Q&A
Does the matrix remain in place at the mobilisation of the patient?
The structure of the fibres are such that it makes the matrix resistant to “tearing forces”. Because of this, the matrix can be fixed with lime or adhesive joints.
What are the recommendations for post–operative rehabilitation?
After one week, the patient can be mobilised. With bracing in extension and with the aide of crutches, the patient can move by himself (3-point walking). After six weeks, the patient can advance to “full weight bearing”.
Which cartilage bone surfaces can be treated with this?
In the first place femur condyl defects and failure of the tibia plateau. The patella and trochlea can also be considered for treatment.
Is this product safe?
The matrix undergoes a purification process resulting in a very weak immunogenity. Eventually the matrix is absorbed in a natural manner. Chondro-Gide® has a CE approval.
